i ordered and recieved this superman montipora on tuesday.. and i've got to say it hasn't looked right since i got it..

i put it on the bottom to help it adjust to the lights.. (4 bulb t5 coralife w/new bulbs)

it has been white since i got it with looks like cinnomon dusted on it.. no polyps opened..

i left it there for a couple days and after a few days i moved it closer to the top, thinking that it must have been under stronger lights before i got it. then someone told me that day not to move it so high up to gradually do it so i moved it back down the same day... after moving it back down half of the red is gone and it's almost all white

my water params are all normal and have been even tho i haven't tested for all the ca and mg but normal paramaters are perfect

anything i can do w/this coral? has anyone received one of these and stayed white-ish for a while? should i move it back up... any advice would help

here's a pic now this pic actually looks better than in person but this is the 2nd day i had it towards the bottom

it is even more white and less red now and has always looked white

Have you tried moving it to a higher flow area?

no idea... never checked... i don't have that test kit

this piece has been slowly declining since the day i received which didn't look good that day either the best it looked was the pic i posted

i'll post another pic but i don't understand why this would be the only coral that i have a problem with and everything else is not only perfect but thriving

mushrooms, zoas, ricordeas, xenias, duncan, procillipora, chalice, frogspawns, anemone, candy canes everything

SPS can be a little strange. Honestly, I think you should get a kit and test alk and ca as well as magnesium. I would certainly make sure these are in check before attempting sps. BTW pocillipora sp? is a really easy type of sps to keep. I have seen it survive some craziness so you really can't base your tanks health on it.

I notice that there seems to be sediment on the rock around it too. the right amount of flow would help. Also, do you have and sand sifting fish that might be keeping sediment suspended? Are your organic waste levels at a minimum? PO4 and No3?
