I use one UVL 75/25 14000K and one UVL Aquasun 10000K pink as part of my 8x54 T5 retrofit. They are awesome bulbs. I already have reflectors though but who knows heck it could be better than reflectors. It seems like it would be a waste if you have relectors though. ????

From what i understand (read) correct me if im wrong but these bulbs are best used on fixtures with poor or no reflectors. They the internal reflectors will actually diminish light output if put on a fixture with good reflectors cause it will just reflect light in multiple directions instead of directly into the tank. Sounds confusing but if u put a bulb with a 180 degree reflector on a fixture with a individual reflector and the bulb is put in with the internal reflector reflecting at the fixture reflector than the full light output isnt reaching the tank. Than if u install the bulb with the reflector pointing down into the tank than whats the point of having a good fixture with individual reflectors?

wonder how they'd work pointed with them reflecting light back up into the reflectors on a nicer setup

i think it would be less light making its way to the tank cause there is a coating on the other half of the 180 degrees within the bulb that acts as the reflector so if the reflector is reflecting back into the bulbs reflector its like facing two mirrors at each other. The light that makes its way to the tank would simply be the overspill of light that escapes from the two reflectors facing each other.

good point, i could see these as a great addition as an addon with a retro kit or just for actinic add-ons with MH's for primary light I'll stick with my normal uvl bulbs and tek reflectors though :)

I bought 8 T5's from reefgeek.com they are very fair in their pricing and they were delivered perfectly.
