Just bought a 3" Yellow tang. Will he start to eat up some algae on my LR or power heads? Will my food for the clowns work with him, I also have some seaweed and clip. He seems to have found a home in the LR for now. My 2 clowns havent seemed to even care he is there. I seen a few small 1/4" bugs running in and out of the LR, I read Tangs eat them. Think he would gobble it up?

he might eat the algae on the rock depending on the type of algae. he might eat the clown's food depending on the type of food. he should like the seaweed. all of my tangs do. i'm not sure if they eat amphipods. i have never witnessed mine going after any.

Rubberband some nori to a rock, if hes not eating frozen foods yet. mysis and brine and formula 2 cubes after that.

rubber banding the nori to a rock is a Great idea. this encourages the fish to feed naturally. if you dont see him go at it try soaking it in a bit of garlic oil. this can stimulate his appetite. I would only start with a 2x2" piece first so you dont ahve a ton of it flapping in the wind. also having other fish that are voracious in their appetites will help too. I recently added an atlantic blue to my tank that ate some flake, but not too strong from the guy I got it from. it was in a tank by itself. now in my 180 with the pigs I have, it has immediately turned into a little piggy. will even pull at the nori sheet with my 10" sohal who is 4x his size.

Wow go figure, I never thought of it like that. Do you know this works or is this a trial? He has been eating the algae I have, I seen him eating at a shell this morning that had some algae so obviously he will eat it. He already has a home in the middle of the LR in a hole no bigger then his body. I want to get some Macro algae for the tank that I want to harvest for my main tank for fish to eat. What should I get?

Every yellow tang I have ever had has eaten anything i put in the tank. As long as the fish feels comfortable and water params are good. Just give it a day or so, and you will see him/her emerge from the rocks and start grazing on them, and should eat whatever offered. Good luck!
