i have a new blue hippo tang about 3.5 to 4 inches long. it is day 3 and he doesnt seem to wanna eat. also he hides most of the day. could he still be getting used to the new tank or what?

iv tried feeding him seaweed, dried food, and frozen food containing krill, mysis, brine shrimp, mussels, squid, and algae.

Did you see it eat before you bought it?

Ah, gotcha... Try feeding some food with garlic in it.

When I got a hippo for my old 29g it took about a week to eat. Just settling in, probably a little stressed

If you can try and get a hold of some live macro algae like gracillaria or ulva. Back when I first got my blue hippo, gracillaria was the only thing I could get it to eat before it switched to pellets

This is common with some Tangs. They take a while to adapt and feel comfortable in the tank. Just keep algae ready for it on a clip or wedge. Mine took about 5 days.

Just my 2 cents, but mine went straight after cyclop-eeze. Most animals cant resist the stuff fwiw. (and it's healthy for them) She eats flake every day now, but I still throw in cyclop every few days.
