So as the addiction grows, I find myself wanting 120 gallon (4x2x2) tank, but im not sure about my floor supporting it. does anyone know a good place to get information on this type of issue. and in case there is a expert hiding on the forums info is below

joists are 4x8s spaced 3 ft apart with 4x6 posts every 7 feet along the length.

there are 2 placings I'm considering one is up against a exterior wall (on a concrete foundation) parallel to the joists

other is against an interior wall perpendicular to the joists where it would span 2 joists.

    Either way should be fine.

If you can get under the floor and add a brace or 2 under the tank that would probably make you feel more secure, but if it's a well built floor it should hold fine.

Full stocked a 120 that's 4x2 would give you 8 sq feet of footprint, and figure with stand, rocks, sand, you'll have maybe 1300-1400 lbs total, or 150-175 pounds per square foot. That's not bad.

i crawled under house and where i am looking at adding support there is already a concrete footing so I think ill just take the oddly mispaced and unused footing as a sign from above that i need the 120g tank i have my eye on.
