    Try and get an RO/DI unit and avoid tap water, silicates, nitrates, DOC, phosphates etc. vary in tap water – some days they are low other they are high (well water being the worst a few days after heavy rain).

    The algae you are seeing is completely normal and to be expected as explained. However, continued use a tap water will cause you more issues than are necessary and is avoidable with the use of RO/DI.
