your protein skimmer will take all your hard work and throw it out the door, you have to establish a good chemistry first with your water,so skimming will take it all out before it can cycle itself, can lead to problems

 

i wouls strongly recommend buy your own salt and mixing yourself, it is very easy and a bucket covers 160 gallons of water, can last a long time, just get a hydrometer to measure the salt, and follow directions, i find much easier mixed in a clean 5 gallon bucket
