Go as big as you can accomodate and afford, bigger the better in my opinion

Pickupman: I was actually looking at that exact thread this morning with that tank! it is pretty amazing, but i'm not sure on the open rimless top.

Alfie : I agree bigger the better!!! but i dont really wanna have it too deep cause then the price of light goes up!

i'm kinda set on the 100gallon mark for the size just thinking about acrylic or glass.

anyone know what "show glass" means?

I think show glass would be reffering to Starfire glass. It's clearer than standard glass. I believe that topic has been discussed a few times here. Try a search for starfire glass.

FWIW my vote would be for a 125g (72wx18dx22h) with 2 corner overflows. I have an off-center overflow on a 90g (48wx18dx24h) and it takes up too much space in the middle of the tank plus 24h is just a little too deep to reach the bottom comfortably and I'm 6' tall.

Yes, Starfire...low Iron glass. It is crystal clear, not blued like most aquariums. Usually 3-4X the price for sheets. Pickupman66 has some I think.

Yes, I have it on my 180 and I have a 7'x3'x1/2"sheet of it standing in the garage. I have plans to build a cube or frag tank out of it, but not opposed to selling it if someone is interested.....

actually, it is Starphire if spelled correctly from PPG. Glass cages sells it by the sheet, but yea, it is pretty high.

Strickland, you dont have to do it rimless. throw you a hood on it! while the rimless is cool, I wont ever go that way I dont think. I like a hood to keep the light from blinding me in the room.

also, some of the frags in Bill's tank are in reserve for me when I get to add them to my tank. he got several from me out of my 75 that I sold out.

also, I would not use acrylic for anything but a sump. scratches too easily. I almost bought a very uniquie 170 acrylic corner tank, but didnt because of the acrylic and the fact of the way it had to be braced.

That is sick. Very 3D with those dimensions, and shallow so everybody gets a heaping helping of light.

Ok so i have been looking around at different options, i'm gonna have to start out small because i am living in an apartment, hopefully getting a house in 2 years. so I have been looking at the 29g Biocube nano.

Has anyone actually got one of these? what will the stock lighting accomodate?
i will eventually upgrade the lighting, i've been seeing some crazy LED upgrades for them out there. but starting out i'm wondering what the lights with accomadate stock?

I have a jbj 28 quad and love it,i wouldn't try sps with it but most lps and softies do great, they have optional lighting hoods with mh and led. Also marine depot has the quad for $350 shipped including the stand.

My only dislikes was flow could be better,so i added a koralia nano which really helped.2nd,very few skimmers will fit in it's chambers,so i bought the airstone driven one made for it and was very unimpressed when i seen it,but since it's been running, the skimmer actually pulls some serious gunk out,so it's not bad after all.
