    Hi All,

I have a few items that came attached to the live rock I just put in my tank. One is a large tube-ish type thing with a mouth at the end that opens up at night. If I shine a flashlight on it, the mouth closes.

The other is a translucent sack that is the color of cooked shrimp.

Anyone know what this stuff is? Does the thing with the mouth need to be fed?

The tank is cycling right now...

    Thanks!

First one.... dunno.... is it soft or hard? If its hard I'd suspect a barnacle of some sort.... if it's soft a cucumber maybe?

Second one looks like a sponge or tunicate of some sort... can't be more help than that I'm new to this myself, just have a lot of book smarts :) (and reading-this-forum smarts)

The cucumber-ish thing definitely soft and can deflate/inflate. It's deflated now, hopefully that doesn't mean he died on me.... there was another one that came on a different rock had an untimely death as a result of his travels.

We are soft cycling to some extent. Filters are all running but we're not super aggressively doing water changes. So far the only dead stuff in there is what didn't survive the trip from FL to NH. We have the sponge (at least that's what we think it is at this point), many plants, some feather dusters and other unidentified life that is so far doing quite well.
