I am new to the salt water world
I have a blue tang and it has ick for the second time in a month.
Any suggestions about what to do after the second fresh water dip and 2 weeks in a sick tank.
My research says get rid of this blue tang, but he or she sure is pretty and lots of fun to watch before the ick set in.
    Thanks for your help

stick it out as long as the fish is otherwise healthy, eating, and not too stressed, it should overcome the ich.

Soooo many Blue (I think you have a Hippo) tangs get ick way too easy for me. I don't want one and I would get rid of it.

A fellow reefer i knew had a Hippo tang for years..and like what you are describing is what he went throught. One month ich free then outa no where TADA...!!! ICH...!! the best course course he told me was to let it go.. Cause if you bother it to much it could make it worse.. He still has it today 4yrs later...and has grown to about 8inch or so just guessing that is...... And heres a Bucket all reefers need GOOD LUCK...!!!!

If you like him, take care of him. I found that when I add garlic to their food it has keep the parasites away. I've had so much luck with this. As long as he is eating well, give him lots of vitamin and garlic soaked algae , and it will help. (get garlic juice from grocery store).

Sometimes the hippo will get stressed and breakout it seems just by being in a hospital tank and being messed with.

What other fish do you have? Cleaner shrimp can help them be more comfortable by cleaning them, but garlic has helped my fish and me out. (garlic before camping trips also helps keep bugs away better)

Mine got ick 3 times for the first 6 weeks ...personally ithink it's the stress from travel. Neon goby and cleaner shrimp help pick off the spots. As long as he is eating isay leave it alone. Pulling them out for dips an treatments I thinkmakes their stress level higher. You're results may vary but ...I've been spot free for months now
