    I set up my 50 gallon tank 2 day ago is it normal for the ph to be low it's around 7.8 and if not how do I fix it

    Lights off I don't have my light yet but there is a large amount of natural sunlight coming in through a open window

    important thing in testing ph is 02 levels like reefguru stated and lighting it may be possible for not enough lights are getting in the tank as the tank will read different from day to night and also different times of the day. I check mine close to the same time when I test for it. I have a rkl and probe and still test just to make sure it is close to what the probe is reading.

    My water also had to mature a bit before I could get my ph stable. Are you testing for Alkalinity?

    I would keeping your alk in line helps keep your ph stable. You want your alk between 8 and 12 dKh.
