    Hi,

I am preparing for my new tank which should be up and running next year. Space is fairly limited so I am going for an 80 gallon. I will also have a sump and I am trying to find out what sort of flow rate I need in my main tank.
I am thinking of using a SCWD which means I will have two returns (1inch pipe), one either side of the tank. I will have two overflow pipes (1.5inches).

Ideally I would like the water to be turbulent but I am not sure whether or not the noise levels from the overflow will be too loud. Alternatively I could rig up a closed loop for the wave movement and a more moderate flow from the tank to the sump.

Any advice or ideas would be great.

    Thanks

I think I would go with option 2 closed loop for the wave movement and a more moderate flow from the tank to the sump. JMO John

I believe The recommended turn over rate is 10 times the tank volume per hour

Nice one, I was thinking going for the closed loop as it will give me more control on both the wave and filtration. As for turn over rate, I haven't managed to find anything on that so thanks for letting me know.

    Cheers, again
