I have recently (with the help from all you 3reefers) set up my new 40g breeder. So far I have:
    • 40g tank
    • current orbit 2x96w PC's
    • 2 hydor koralia 2's
    • 20g sump
    • aquamedic turboflotor 1000 multi skimmer
    • supreme classic 500gph return pump (plumbed to ball valve to control waterflow)
    • aquarium life support systems overflow box ( with custom stockman standpipe)
    • aquarium pharmicuticals tap water filter with extra cartridges (only temporary until ro/di comes in)
    • titanium heater
tell me what you guys think and if there is something that i do/ do not need, and when do you all think it will be time for me to add live rock?

looks good so far, my only concern would be the table it is on, looks a little weak. also, imo i would get base rock, not true lr. I had some bad algae that came along with my precured lr, plus base rock is much cheaper

I am a little worried about that table too. :-/ I think you want to remember you are going to have a lot of money invested in the tank you wouldn't want to come home and find out that that coffee table wasn't up to the challenge.

I shared your alls concerns about the table, but if you look closley in the first picture you can see where i made an attempt to reinforce the table with 2x4's. Do you think this will be enough or should i place the tank elsewhere, cause after all i am new to this so any expert opinions are greatly appreciated.

Here is a quick formula for you 1 gallon of salt water weighs 8.5 pounds so just the water is coming in at 340 lbs + the tank and you are around 380 and you haven't added sand and rock yet the setup may come in around 500lbs + easy and that is a serious amount of weight if that table sways at all game over . I just want you to consider it.

The 2x4s may help with downward direct pressure in a small way but a proper stand evenly distributes the weight around the whole structure . before you invest any more in the tank think about a stand + with a proper stand you could maybe have the sump hidden underneath.

yes build your own stand if you have the tools and know how we all forget how important the stand is and welcome
