New tank - should be running soon!

I think the total volume after sand and rock is a little over 40 gallons, their pretty sweet setups, you lined up LR and LS yet?

AYe been slow! I am waiting for a pump from G man. ( C'mon dude!)
Last week I received a used AquaLite in the mail that I bought off some guy out east. I am actually scared to plug it in. It was extremely poorly packed. Huge box with only crushed up newspaper protecting it. There was a giant hole in the side from the ballast. And all the moving around dented the fixture. The light is covered in salt creep, the fan is full of crud and the bulb looks spent. Totally lame. Mia culpa.

 

Bummer. K+ for takin it like a G. I dont like it when people try to stick it to you in a sale. Whats that old saying? Buyers are victims and sellers are liers and thieves?

That's a bummer man Irritates me when people do stuff like that. k+ and good luck - if you did paypal you may be able to recover your money if the item was misrepresented.

I just spent an hour or so cleaning the light ... getting the salt creep off the mount and getting the fur off the fan.

The Good News:

The HQI lamp works - it fired up nice and I am impressed the focus of the Aqualight Advanced - I was able to adjust the arm and get it to light up the tank without a lot of overspill. The reflectors and diffusers are nice and manage to prevent a hot spot / glare that burn your eye out.

The Bad News:

1) The power supply for the fan is gone - most likely went out of the hole in the box unless he just forgot to pack it. SO - if you own an Aqualight Advanced - can you post a pic of the power supply of the fan or tell me any info (volts,etc) on it so I can replace it?

2) The challenge with this lamp mount and the design of the Neo Nano is to get the halide bulb within a foot or less of the water surface. Right now it looks to me to be about 18" over the the water surface. I would like to get it lower.. I need to noodle on this one...


Overall I am happy that the light works considering the way it was shipped and I think it will work great on this tank when I get it dialed in.
