Buy a refractometer instead of an inconsistent hydrometer.

So with SPS I would need approx. 1160 gph to 1450gph?

Yeah,a lot of people say that's the lower end for flow in a sps tank. One sps that will do ok with less is montipora, which is why it's the only sps in my mixed reef.In a smaller tank it's hard to keep sps along with softies and lps because of the different reguirements. If your starting your first reef, it might be good to go with softies and lps, their way less demanding and can make a very nice looking and interesting tank.Hope this helps,Dave

Are there any fish that could survive that flow without becoming exhausted and dieing?

Yeah, those numbers do sound extreme but what they mean is total output of pumps and powerheads, not one directional flow like a fast whirlpool. That's why most people use two or more powerheads to create some random turbulance much like on a shallow reef where the wave action does this. It's perfectly natural for the fish, they will find places around the rockwork to rest as well as enjoy swimming in the turbulance.

So if I got 2 Koralias and put them on either side of the tank... Could I point them toward the back so the front is alittle calmer?

Two Koralias would probably be good, most people try to bounce the flow off of the front glass or aim one more towards the top to get good surface agitation,.One on each side facing each other can give you some good random movement too. That's what I like about my Koralias, they're very easy to move around and try different positions.Thay also produce a very wide flow, not a hard stream of current.

And fish would be ok with that?
