i have had my 26 gallon bowfront running for about 3 months and i am having a large out break of cyano on the sand and rocks its starting to grow on my softies. I pick it off every few days to keep the coral healthy. I ordered a UV sterilizer will this help kill the cyano i also have "seagel" in my skimmer "only place i can put it ". Any suggestions or tips ?
    thanks

Are you using tap water or RO water?

I would not run the uv, it will kill alot of good things in the tank, i think they are very bad for reef tanks, they will nuke all the pods in ur tank

Feeding less is usually the most helpful thing in fixing cyano. What is your current feeding schedule?

i have nevr used tap water in this tank i have always added pre mixed saltwater from my LFS. As far as the uv are you saying it is more harmful then helpful my tang has ich and im triyng to get all the nasties out including cyano and ich i am doing water changes more then usual every 3-4 days i do a 5 gallon change. as far as feeding ive been feeding my tang more then usual seince hes sick i wnt him to hve energy to fight it off. I also have a duncan i feed a few mysis shrimp every two to three days. My LFs and friend both tell me my tank is going through the algae stage and it will die off in itme.
