    Hey thanks.

    A few updates.

I redesigned the plumbing as the new drawing. Hint, if you use flex tubing and need to make a 90' turn, use an elbow, works like a charm.

Also fired up the EV180 after installing the Mag 7 and the new plumbing for that.

Oh, and to keep the pesky jumpers in the tank, a quick easy fish gaurd.

Thats it for tonight. I will let this run for a day to make sure.
    Hey, no leaks, woo hoo..

Oh yah, I got the drawer to close so I wont lose that storage... Cool..

    Transfer

    Ok guys / gals
My testing is done, I have 120 gallons or RO/DI ready to go and the sump/fuge baffles are drying.

I will likley look to get going this weekend.

I am reviewing options for the transfer plan.

Option 1 - is to transfer all 46 gallons into the 110 using new sand but using a few cups of the original. Using the 50 lbs of original LR, and adding 50lbs of new base rock. This meanes the fish will need to move as well, all in one shot.

Option 2 - Add the 120 gallion of all new RO/DI water, new sand with a few cups of the original, add the base rock and the original LR but not the fish. Wait some period of time then add the fish.

    What do you think ?
    Are there better options? Others?

    What would you do ?

    Thanks

In my Opinion... i am still newer to this but know a fair amount, i would go with option number 2, to let the tank settle and not risk harming the fish/invertibretes, just because with soo much new stuff in the tank/ a mix of new and old, the parameters could stray a bit so going with option 2 would allow you to correct them, or give them some time to correct themselfs, might be better in the long run??...

Great pics Double2mk, looks good!! As for the sand transfer, I would do the following; Since your going to have to drain some of the water from the 46, why dont you just clean the sand while syphoning it with the "tube". That way, your cleaning the sand but not killing any of the beneficial bacteria and making the tank alot lighter to carry. Plz remember that the water doesnt cycle, instead the sand and LR does. Did I make any sense? Luna

Sure did thanks. I always thought that the water helped as well. I did decide to go with new sand as the indo pacific doesnt look as good as the same type sand I had in the Cichlid tank. I do want to use a few cups of it underneath the new stuff. DOES that help at all ??

Main problem is that if I dont tranfer all at once, I cant likley get to the sand anyway. I suppose I could take the water and fish an put on the 40 breeder till im done, but that is a bunch more work. I also thought that too much moving and transferring would cause too much stress and I am wanting to avoid that for sure.

I'm also running out of room, you saw this big pile of stuff... Well it is actually bigger now than when I took the picture. Yikes.

We'll see where the day goes.

    :help:
Hey, BTW. When I check the tank for level. It is perfect left to right, but the bubble touches the back line from front to back. I guess just under 1/16" off level front to back. I know level is important but is this as they say, Close Enough ??

    Thanks again

Mod for the EV180 gate valve. Added the T for the airflow as recommended and it is under 18". The skimmer dumps into the fuge area

Thats it for today. Just letting it run till the water clears up

    Cheers

I would have let it all settle out for a day or two more before firing up the pump in the sump. Now all the fine sand is stirred up. But I like the look of the stand, it's sharp. That's one really tall tank.

    Ahh makes sense, thanks.
Yeah, when I moved from the 90 it was the same L and W but it is 29"tall instead of 25". But I can still reach the bottom easy enough so thats ok.

Yeah, I liked the sand to. It was a toss between the Aromax Argonite and the Fiji Pink. I went with the Argomax by Caribsea. Stayed away from the cost of the "Live Sand" this time around. That is only 60lbs right now and it is already 3"+ deep in the front. I cant imagine actually putting in 110 lbs, that would be way too deep.

    Hopefully 60lbs is enough.
