I must say that I am rather Disappointed witht the Koralia 3 pumps. I hooked them up to the RS Wavemaker and every time the pumps turn on, they make that dry impeller sound. Afer listening to that for about an hour, I plugged them into constant flow.

OK, next. Those end protectors keep falling off. I guess I will need to glue them on or something.

Does anyone else have these problems ?

    \Thanks

I have no problems with the Koralia 2 or 3. There are little snaps that hold the screen in place, but you have to be careful not to break the screen. They are a little quirky to take apart and put back together, especially since they tighten counter-clockwise, and they only get on tight a certain way. I can tell by where the coralline has grown where they line up now.

    Morning after

OK, took out the Koralias and reseated the endcaps, so far they are still on. Not sure what I was doing but I was likley turning clockwise,,,

Cleaned all the filters and wiped down the sump, tied up some of the wires and made a splash guard for the intake side of the sump.

The next morning, the cloudinesss was gone.

I had to dial back the Mag9 a bit. It was getting ahead of the overflow.

I will test the water next to see what it looks like.

    OK, water tested.

    Temp - 80
    PH - 8.4
    ALK - 2.5
    Mag - 1300
    Ca - 480

    Bio readings are all 0

Is there anything I should look at ?

    \Cheers

Just updating the tank thread with the latest.
I had flow issues in the sump so I removed the blud filter pad just before the return area and the return was running out./

Now the valves are wide open and everything is flowing again.

The idea was for bubbles and final debris catcher before the disply. I dont have any bubbles in the return or display so I guess I dont need it for that. I also have the filter on the return pump so I guess that is good enough.

I will take the suggestion of someone here and add like a filter sock to the intake when I stir up the tank. Like when I add the remaining rock soon.

    Update

Not much going on. Still waiting for the new light to come in.

    Here is the sump complete
    [IMG]

Still no bubbles in the return chamber or tank
    [IMG]

EV180 started kicking in, still draining to the sump as per directions.

:help:With this much air and turbulance, should I still add an air stone ??

I have air pumps to add, but do I need it ? Has anyone use the O2 test kit to see if they had enough ?

    Hey NP -

So the EV180 is draining to the sump as per the directions. I have a temp tube running to the skimmer chamber. After the two weeks, I will connect the EV drain cup tot the unit. Any other advice on breaking in the EV180 ?

The tower to the right is the APC 1500 UPS, battery backup system. I actually forgot to post, that I blew myself up the other day. FYI, DONT use a cheap UPS and DONT, use the on/off button for maintenance... I popedd 3 breakers in the house along with sparks, smoke and a heart attack... I have the new unit facing out so I can unplug the items one at a time for maintenance.

Why would you run a tube form the skimmer's collection cup back into the system? The instructions told you to do that? I dont remember reading that.

What does that APC 1500 UPS actually do? Luna

    Yes,
About half way through, the "Important" section under the Collection Drain Cup section.

"During the first week or two, we recommend that you drain back to the sump..." They say once it kicks in, it can drain a gallon or two very quickly and the drain cup will overflow. Did I miss understand ??

If my power goes out, the UPS will keep my tank running for an hour or so, or until the generator kicks in. It also has surge supressing to protect the gear..

I understand what they mean and you did it right. I didnt do that b/c my skimmer is in the sump, so if it would have overflowed, it would have just overflowed back into the sump and not on the floor. Cool. Luna

BTW, how much does one of those APC 1500 UPS go for?
