Well. . maybe it's not a new tank, but it's a "new" go at it.

Something Went Awry with my last setup, and I changed a few things around. Having had a fairly complex sump/fuge, I've swapped that for a Wet/Dry I had. . .

. . . and cut the baffles out to sort of retro-fit it to be a sump, operated with an inline pump.

The Cliff Notes version of the old setup was that things went downhill fast. As Gatsby responded when asked how he lost his money, "First gradually, then quickly" is how my reef tank deteriorated. I tried everything--which I won't replay here. If you're interested in a weekend's reading you can link to the thread above.

Here are some photos of the new "below." As you can see, it's pretty simple with only enough bioballs to deaden the waterfall sound, a Coralife 225 skimmer, a Kent PhosReactor running phosphate media and carbon, and an autotopoff system consisting of a float valve in the evaporation chamber of the sump. I'm 22 days into cycling and have only just begun to show ammonia. We'll take it nice and slow, and when the time comes, Baugherb has some frags for me, and Wally has plenty of xenia that he's happy to part with.

Well spark looks good and I really hope all the problems you had go away. I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see some pics of this thing coming together to be a very nice reef.

Glad to see you didn't give up the hobby. Nice looking set up so far, those Little Giant pumps are great, I have a spare I'm going to integrate into my Q-tank set up instead of the Mag 9 I used to use. .

i like seeing bioballs and traditional filtration being utilized, it should give you some more "wiggle room" if nothing else, good luck!

I'm with Otty, glad you stuck it out and didn't give up like so many do.

I'm still happy I tore my down and restarted it. Keep us updated! ;D

I got it with my Typhoon from Airwaterice.com. $12 I think.
