Yesterday I setup a 55 gallon bowfront with 21lbs of live rock cured and 20 lbs of reef rock. I have live carbi sea sand. These are my reading after 24 hrs and i expected higher readings....

    High Range PH 7.8

    Ammonia 0

    Nitrite 0

    Nitrate 20ppm

    Temp 75

    Salt 1.022

Any suggestions or is everything ok....I am very new but trying to learn. Thanks for any suggestions or help.

Do you have anything in there at all? You should stick a single yellow tailed damsel in there to help kick-start the cycle. How much sand do you have? Plan on adding any more rock?

your pH is definitely too low, but regardless, you have a few weeks of cycling ahead of you- dont bother doing any water changes until you've seen your tank cycle.

are you going to do a fowlr or reef? 1.022 is fine for fish only, might want to bump that up to 1.023-26 for reef. also, temp at 75 is a little cool. maybe push that up to 77-79 also

your other parma's are normal. expect your ammonia to come up too.

    pics??

I am a believer in this as well. One damsel. Old school was one damsel per 20 gallons. That's what I did. That worked also. No one here will tell you to do that. Including me.

Yup....Hey this multiquoting thing is cool.

Yup, I agree. Did I mention that I liked the multiquote thang?

Oh yes. These are necessary. I don't care how new the tank is. Ooooo, I even multiquoted a quote twice....and I am in my FORTIES!!!! I am so cool.

One yellow tail damsel will do while the tank is cycling. Get your water params in check over the next month or so before you start adding more stuff.
