going to be setting up a new 35gal tank soon,  thinking about putting a mated pair of gold stripe maroon clownfish in there w/ a rose BTA.  Its a 40gal flat back hex.  couple of questions.   How much light should i put over the tank (for the rose BTA), i was thinking about 200w.  I know that these clownfish are pretty aggressive, and i want to get 1 or 2 other fish for the tank, what are some ideal tank mates for these guys.

I would really go with MH for a BTA. But I'm sure with some of the new PC lights you could be successful with a couple of 96w fixtures

i think because of the size ans shape i am going to have to use a MH pendant and a small stripe w/ actinic bulbs

You can just get a 14000K MH bulb and you won't have to fool with the actinics it will be blue enough. Check out the Hamilton reefsun pendants at www.hamiltontechnology.com .

1 WAS THINKING OF THAT BUT THEN I CANT SIMULATE DAWN AND DUSK.  I WOULD PUT LED MOONLIGHTS IN BUT IT WOULD JUST GO FROM MOONLIGHT TO 12 NOON IN A FLASH DONT KNOW IF THATS GOOD, SO I NEED SOME OTHER LIGHT PROBABLY JUST NO OR HO LIGHTS. i GUESS I COULD USE A X-10 MODULE TO SLOWLEY DIM THE LIGHT DOWN AT NIGHT AND ON IN THE MORNING BUT I THINK THE OTHER LIGHTS MAY BE EASIER

    Hi JOERO178...

Setting up "small" tank? - think "small" fish...

couple of "clown" gobies or blenny would go great with those Maroons...

CLOWN GOBIES ARE NICE AND MORE IMPORTANTLY DONT HAVE ANY IN MY REEF TANK. I THINK 1 OR 2 OF THOSE IS A GOOD IDEA. YEP STARTING A NEW TANK MY ROOMMATE HAS A FRESHWATER TANK WHICH HE DOESN'T TAKE CARE OF, HE JUST FEEDS THEM IF I TOLD YOU HOW HE TREATS THIS FISH THEY ARE THE HARDIEST FISH I HAVE EVER SEEN. ONCE THEY PASS AWAY THE TANK IS MINE TO PLAY WITH. DONT EXPECT THEM TO LIVE MUCH LONGER. I WANTED TO GIVE THEM BACK TO THE PET STORE BUT HE DOESN'T WANT TO, DON'T KNOW WHY BUT ITS HIS TANK FOR NOW.
