The guy at the lfs hopefully is right...
I used tap on my initial fill, and my live rock ended up haveing more what they call die off. That ended up extending my cycle...
Wish i would have used reverse osmosis water..

Ahh... Little concerned now. Would have been a nightmare transporting 400litres (100 us gallons)

You could run the tank with carbon , and something to remove phosphates etc that might be in your tap water for a while before adding your live rock??? ( i use a product called chemipure elite in my tank)

And maybe think about getting some better water for water changes eventually.

you should be fine with the tap water for your initial fill up. it really depends on the water in your area. Your LFS should know the water if they are local. i would use RO water going forward though. make sure that your temp and salinity are correct before adding the live rock. My preference is to add the substrate and let the cloudiness subside before i add the live rock but this isn't necessary. Especially if you already have the rock, i would want to get it in as soon as possible. As soon as people start waking up over here, they will start attaching links that should help.

Thanks or the advise yeah it's just the initial setup I used tap water, I'd never use it for water changes. The temp and salinity are spot on and the live rock has been ordered for Monday/Tuesday

a lot of people don't like the live rock because one it is expensive and two they don't like the "bad" hitchhikers. it was my favorite part. it seems like every day i was finding some little guy that i couldn't identify. yes, i had to remove some creatures (i had a mantis shrimp take out a wrasse) but it was all part of the fun. i envy your new setup. i might run out today and buy some liverock just to see what hichhikers come with it. the best advice is to just take it slow.

Latest on my 400litre build. I went down the live rock in the sump route, roughly 11kg.

I waited until all water perimeters fell to 0 and started stocking yesterday, only inverts but it's a start. I got 2 emerald crabs, 5 hermit crabs, 4 turbo snails and one cleaner shrimp. I'll wait a while before adding fish now just to take things steady.

The next fish I'll add will be from my old setup, in total I have 2 clowns and 2 green chromis to move. I also have a dog face puffer but he won't be moving to the big tank as I want corals and he will eat them aswell as my cleanup crew. It's a shame really because he's a real character!

Anyway hope your all good and enjoying your tanks :)
