    I build a custom stand too but I didnt build an 8 foot long one for a 4 foot tank. What are the dimensions it will make it easier for someone to help you.

    What is the purpose of the dividers in the sump?

    They are to stop any micro bubbles that might be from your skimmer, or overflow depending on how you have it set up. I have a "herbie" style overflow so I run at full siphon and have no micro bubbles but still have the baffles.

    Not sure about your stand dimensions but is a 75g out of the question? If not I think that would be better because its wider. The extra few inches may mean you can get a larger skimmer or a large reactor that may not fit in a smaller width tank. I have no doubt that a 55 g sump is more than enough for the most part. Even if you have a relatively large bioload it should be fine. I know there is a significant price jump between the two. Just an idea more than anything else.
