I have seen many threads about this topic. About how pistol shrimp are bad and they will kill your cleaner. And yes I even seen that video up on youtube of it happening. But I have had my cleaner and pistol together for about 5months now. The funny thing is that they both have homes set up pretty close to eachother. Don't you think that if the pistol shrimp is the "killer" everyone claims it to be, it would have already killed my cleaner shrimp or better yet another fish or my peppermint shrimp.
Does any one else have pistol shrimp living harmonously with a cleaner?

fish are funny that way, I think those sterotypes are just suggestions a lot of the time =) I have a lot of fish together that are supposed to eat each other. =) Its always nice to see unlikly friends I hope they stay friendly towards each other for you! :)

Not me....I tried keeping both in my tank at one time but eventually, the pistol was the only shrimp remaining. That's not to say that the pistol ate all of the shrimp but it was definitely my number one suspect in their disappearance.

Just not hungry enough, getting enough food elsewhere.

May not have learned other shrimp are food.

Certainly can be shrimp "buddies" with other shrimp in home reef aquarium.

On a natural reef, may be other story. :-/

I agree with Omard - the rules change in a home aqurium! Fish that school together in the wild shouldnt kept together in the aqua - and as previously stated fish that eat each other in the wild are living fine together in the aqua.
i think its one of those things, it may or may not happen!!
