    Hey Y'all,

I've had a marine system setup since 1 July 08 and am very interested in how I go about setting up an "Algae Scrubber"? I've heard pro's and cons...mostly pros.
    But have some questions:

    • What about if you have SPS?
    • How does using this effect your pH or dKH?
    • How would I incorporate this into my sump or should I just use an old wet/dry as the container for the scrubber?
    Here is what I have:

    • 225 gallon AGE tank with external overflow.
    • 3 Luminarc MH lights; 20k @ 400w each.
    • 4 T5's: 2=460 blue, 1=Kora purple, 1=420 Actinic
    • Tunze Wavebox, and Tunze Stream
    • 100 gallon homemade sump with 2-Eheim 1262 pumps.
    • Deltec 851 Protien Skimmer
Here is a link to my Blog on Austin Reef Club for pics and details.

Thanks for any input that you can give me on how well this works and exactly what can it replace?

    Best Regards,
    Dave "renman303"

Welcome to 3reef! If you're looking at a DIY ATS then there is a few floating around if you use the search engine on the main bar. I would personally use a "T" off of an overflow which is on it's way to the wet/dry and have your ATS off of your overflow from the tank and then after it's gone through the ATS dump into the sump... no pump... just your ATS and gravity!

welcome to 3reef! I have also heard good and bad things, but I really don't understand them enough to pursue any further interest...
