hello and welcome to 3reef. ive looked into building tanks before and i found its cheaper and alot less time just to go and buy one. but i want a take that would have to be custom. for that deal it would be cheaper to build your own but not by much becouse of the time of the build if you count that. my dream tank besides something real huge is something like 12'x 24''x24'' or even longer and having some schooling fish. well good luck and welcome to alot of fun with saltwater.

I dont see nothing wrong with a 75g SW tank, unless you have "big" plans in your head. As for the sump for a 150g tank, I like to go with at least half of the DT. So in your case, I would go with 75-90g tank for the sump.
    BTW......welcome to 3reef.

still thinking about building my tank but a friend of mine said he was thinking about getting ride of his 150g tank(kinda lucked out, said he would sell it to me for 300 including stand). So right now i am up in the air about still building the tank(up in the air yea right.), cause it is a daunting task but like i said i like challenges. and were i live tanks are so expensive so by building my own i should be saving a couple hundred bucks or more that i can spend else were for the tank in the long run. we will see, still want to build the sump/refug though.

and for what i want to do with the tank, i do not really want a agressive fish tank, something chill, i was looking at the corals section of the forums and it caught my eye still doing some trolling around there to find a starter guide persay on doing a coral tank.

i have seemed to stumble upon a really cool group of ppl on this site, thx for everyone being so welcoming sharing on your wealth of aqaurium info.

    Cheers

yea my 75g should be enough but i will have two VERY angry women on my hands if i take down my FW tank(saving myself a headache). i have always wanted a bigger tank.
