    Hey everyone,

I am new to 3reef and am new to reef keeping. I have wanted to keep a reef aquarium for a long time, but something always got in the way. That time is history. I have a JBJ 12 NC, I just got my liverock today. Let the cycling begin! I am so excited. I changed out the stock pump with a MJ-900 and have added an additional powerhead for xtra circulation. I have done a lot of reading and research yet, I still feel like I don't know anything. Any advice or tricks of the trade would be appreciated. I hope to have pictures soon. Thanks.:)

Welcome to 3reef. First thing is to be patient. Let your tank do a full cycle. Do about a gallon a week water change and check your parameters every week before you do you water change. Once your ammonia is at 0 and you have little to no nitrates, then you are ready to add your first fish.

What are you planning to do with the tank?

make sure to get a mini skimmer if you are adding corals. Once your cycle is done, you can add a pair of ocellaris clown fish. Just remember to take your time and be patient
