Hi, I am thinking of buying my first coral today. I am thinking of either getting zoanthids or pulsing xenia. Would I need to buy anything for them for feeding or anything?

    Thank you

As far as zoanthids, as long as your params are fine you dont NEED to feed or anything. with the Xenia, i find that to be a hit or miss with feeding

well congrats, both are very hardy and good beginner corals, you could get both if you wanted they are pretty inexpensive for the most part..also for feeding you dont really need too, they usually eat through whenever you feed your fish, but i feed mine rotifiers liquid, made by reef nutrition, your fish store should have them, or something similar..but its not needed, just helps them grow and multiply faster when you feed them..

Well I have a refugium also. Will they eat copepods or anything from there? Also do you recommend anymore hardy inexpensive corals?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I do not target feed either my xenia nor my zoanthids. In my experience xenia likes a tank that does not have a nitrate level of 0, mine always did better in a tank with nitrates around 10 ppm. Pods are much too large for xenia to eat, zoanthids make take some foods, but lighting is much more important.

Others that are good are leathers, colts and mushrooms.

I have found candy canes to be very hardy and depending on where you are can be pretty inexpensive. Some might disagree with me but duncans for me have been mega easy for me. Might look into them as well.
