I am completely new to this hobby and before I went out and bought any supplies I was hoping to get some advice! I would like to keep predominately Clown Fish and other compatible organisms and was just wondering what that entailed! I will be living in an apartment and therefore space will be somewhat limited and I don't want to cramp a fish in a tank too small, so just seeing if it's practical!

    Welcome to 3reef.

This is an excellent link to get you started, there are several other good links in the New to Hobby forum.

I suggest a 40 gal breeder tank if you can fit it. If not consider an AIO (all in one) like a BioCube or Nanocube.

A common trend for newer hobbyist is to want to upgrade to a larger tank in a few months so do not go too small initially.

    Good Luck.

Article seems very helpful, thank you, lots of reading to do!

Also wondering if there are any reputable Canadian (closer to the East the better) suppliers of fish and supplies?

    Our Company

Never ordered from them and I really know nothing about them.

I'm in a basement suit and space is an issue for me too. I got a nice 20gal with a trimma, damsel and dottyback. Depending on how aggressive the clowns you get will determine which other fish you can keep. My clowns started out peacefull then my female clown flipped a switch and aggressively started attacking all other fish in the tank. I had to switch my peacefull community to an aggressive reef. Something the size of a 20-30gal I think would be suitable for your situattion. Small enough to not take up a lot of space but big enough to have more than just a couple fish. The parameters can swing quite a bit with a tank that size though, so just keep your eye on them.
