Hi everyone, I'm just getting into the stony corals. Mainly LPS. I purchased a small frag of trumpet coral with 5 or so heads and I just had a quick question about actinics only.

At night time when my actinics are the only thing on, are the stony corals supposed to close up almost completely to where I can see their skeleton, or is there something wrong? Maybe because I just added it to the tank and it could be stressed? I can see it's small sweeper tentacles out, but I just had to ask.

    Thank you.

    sorry things? autocorrect!lol

A month old is EARLY for coral. Your cycle may not be complete yet. I'd keep up with some water changes until your cycle is stabilized to keep it alive.

Wait, a month since the cycle ended or a month since you added stuff and started the cycle?

well, technically its about 2 1/2 months old. I pretty much let the tank sit for about a month with just saltwater and a piece of live rock from my father's established tank (been up for over 3 years). then i added more live rock and live sand. added the clown and the hermit crabs at about 2 months. and now the coral at about 2 1/2 months. I really started this tank early january, but i just counted it since i started adding more stuff into it.
