So I thought I would experiment with M H lighting. My ballasts are burning out and it's an old fixture . I decided to buy a fairly new 150w M H clamp on fixture by corallife. Bulb is 4months old and wow does it ever shine!
I'm used to my 54w t5s which were good but this even creates shimmer on the ceiling. Half my tank will have around 250 w of T5 and the other 150w M H and 108w of T5 Any thoughts? Will be purchasing a new fixture very soon.

Ha, I did notice that myself. I wondered if it would affect the set up having different lighting at each end?

hmmm you mean the mh in the middle and t5s on the ends? ive never seen it done that way but im sure it has, i usually see them like that front to back but not side to side...you could always just put the corals that need more light in the middle and the lower light corals on the ends...

The only other shimmer that you could get would be from LED's.
