new to salt water

I am learning that there are many different ways to have a salt water tank... as i learn more i see different types of set ups and others ways of doing things... do i know exactly what im doin... hell no not even a clue... this is my first saltwater tank and im enjoying every step of this. we all take advice of others good or bad and decifer what to do with it.... i have spent weeks reading on species that are in my tank... is there a certain cycle period. is there a perfect set up.. y are my fish acting like they are... did i jump the gun so to speak... i have had african cichlids brakish water fish and i umped into this system... its been set up 3 weeks.... fish and anemone's been in there at least a week... crabs and snails since 2 days after i set it up.... i can answer your ?'s to me the best i can.... i have alot to ask and then some.... but for now i think i am done on this thread for its not answering much for me... thanks alot..... dave
