Absolutely, but everything will need to be hang on back. You will at least want a protein skimmer and I recommend a refugium too. You could always do an overflow box or drill the tank too, if you do want a sump.

Yes you can have a non-drilled reef tank but for equipment hiding I would go for a sump IMO, hides unnecessary equipment and acts as extra water volume which helps your system! :p .02cents..

I think most will agree that a sump is the way to go. My .002cents is, if you even remotely think you would want a drilled tank, make the investment now and do it now. Its a pain to change over after your tank is up an running. Look at gl*******s.com.

I have a sump set up that is hang on the back and I would rather have it drilled. Its a cleaner setup and less hassle.

    good luck.

What is the process to drill a tank? Would that be something I would need my local fish store to do? I think for now I will probably just use what I have, but sometime down the line I can see wanting to get it drilled.

They probably can, or a local glass shop. Glass-holes.com offers a kit (overflow and diamond tip hole-saw) to drill, you just need the drill.

I would drill before setting up your tank. It will be near impossible to do after.

If you want to do it the right way, I would suggest a sump. I'm sure 99.9 % here will tell you the same.

    Good luck

Yes, I'm doing so now. I want a sump, however.
