    It's a blue sponge I guess. But def a sponge.
    If the rock was out of water, chances are that it will die off but may grow back.

    looks like a blue sponge,, and as someone else pointed out, if it was exposed to air for more than a few seconds it wont survive :(

    the edges will start to look like clear spores.. when mine did that, I cut those branches off. I used to have a real nice 4 branch red sponge tree.. not its a tall red pole w/ nubs.. :)
