    Welcome to the reef! My current tank is also the first one I ever had, it's a year old (to me) in May. You'll find a lot of helpful information in the threads, and definitely read, read, read!

    It's me again,

    I added 10lbs of alive sand, 2 more 250gph pumps, a better cheap skimmer that does work, i was using a 6 in one strip test for salt water and from day one always said my water was perfect. So i paid 50 bucks and bought a red see marine kit "didn't have reef kit in stock" and tested the water and i was pleased when it was reading all test were right on. I do have restored faith in the 6-in-one tests. "only 4 tests is for salt water"


    Added up all flow of water movement which is close 2400GPH or 40GPM or about .67 of a GAL per sec. and my overflow/wet-dry filter turns the tank over every 10mins and my canister filter turns the tank about every 18mins. (above is not incl. any skimmers)

    I have:
    295GPH just in tank as flow pump
    250GPH just in tank as flow pump
    250GPH just in tank as flow pump
    300GPH est. from canister
    600GPH est. just in tank as flow pump
    700GPH est. from wet-dry

    Dumb skimmer in sump does nothing but mix air in tank
    other skimmer is HOB that is making green water right now fills up every 2-3 days.

    It's starting to look like it may be starting to cycle. "20 days into cycling"

    Well paid for some T5 HO's 4x54w, more filter media, and bio balls. should be here soon!!!! I'll have the lights to grow more then a few pieces of green slime. Yes from aquatraders again for 95 bucks for the lighting i just cant not buy them. with bulbs!

    I'll keep you all posted if they shipped/packed good and if they even work.

    Update

    Well here's the low down on my tank as of june 1st 09


    My t-5's are great and working fine.
    The bio-balls never shipped.


    Fish+Tank is great now, 1 fish was 3/4 dead is i got him out of the DT tank and into the TB.
