I just got my skimmer in and it is bubble like its suppost to but it hasn't removed any dirty water at all. My friends pumps out alot of dirty water but I've had mine up and going for awhile now and no dirty water. I dunno maybe my tank is clean and I don't need a skimmer. Advise?
Edit: Its a Aqua Medic Turboflotor multi SL

Is it a new skimmer? How long has it been set up? How long has the tank been set up?Some times it will take a little while for it to break in and get the oils from the manufacturing process out of the system and build a slime coat before it will start pulling skimmate..

Once you turn a skimmer off and let it dry out etc

it can take up to 3 days before it starts producing enough foam to carry up and over into the cup

as long as the body is a milky white colour from all the fine bubbles, I would leave it a couple more days and see what happens

I clean mine every 4 days. :) 5 hrs isn't nearly enough. Every no and then, wipe a finger on the inside of the cup and see the difference. What kind of skimmer is it?
