Here are some pictures of my tank/creatures. Any reccommendations on feeding? I hear the scallops can be painful

    coral?

I found this lil guy growing in my tank the other day. Think it's just a random piece of coral growing?

Its 29 gallon and been up and running for about 8 weeks. My wife and I have done a fair amount of research but are continually getting mixed responses from various local fish/pet stores and what we read on the net. We are not planning on adding any other critters and would like to start adding different corals. Any thoughts?

i love manderans as well but they say you have to have at least 100 lbs of rock and a very estableshed tank to keep one, just fyi

We have about 50 lbs of rock with plenty of hiding places he seems to like and lots of copeo-snacks! He seems to be doing well, but I don't want to put him in jeopardy. The store we got him from said our setup should be fine for him and did advise that they are a bit harder to keep. Guess I have a bit more reading to do about him..... Are there any sites that could be recommended that will help reduce the conflicting information I get from the stores we visit?

Mandarines and the scallops are both difficult to care for. You really should have a very mature tank to keep mandarines alive for any significant period of time, unless you can get him to eat prepared food, even then they are tough.

I would start with photosynthetic corals that need little or no additional food. Start with soft corals or LPS corals, look for ones that need low light to start with.

What is your set up? Sump (size), skimmer, lights? What are your water perameters (nitrates, nitrites, pH, temp...?)
