you bet it did..although perhaps the most devistating thing that has happened in a long time..u learn from it! 50 feet from the fish room is now the limit...LOL

 

i run carbon in the canister filter..as stated by the box and lfs...

 

i have one of those H.O.T magnum canisters always packed with carbon and running. just to make sure......

 

i change the carbon every 30 days..and clean it every 2 weeks.. not sure if i really need to know as there isnt much for bio load on it atm

 

My main filtration though is my "Awesomly" groomed DSB. Everyday, i get a long plastic stick i have and push it through about 1/10 of the sandbed. it seems to work.....i never had 1 ppm of nitrate yet

 

i have a med sand bed..ls and cc. no trates ever..not even in my 10 gal..i also hadnt done a water change in a year either.up till dec anyways..glad to see the dsb is as good as i've read..
