Hey everyone cool site lots of info. My wife and I decided to setup a salt water tank. We started out with a 75g tank on a decent stand. Bought a big trash bucket and filled her up with hose water and treated it. Then added in our ocean salt and got the salinity to 1.025 I then cleaned 2 bags of sand added that to the tank and then added a bag of live sand. Looks like about 3.5" deep sand bed. Don't remember how much live rock we bought, but it's enough to make a nice scape and still have room to clean around the tank. Well we set up our scape and then pumped the water in. I have a backpack protein skimmer and 2 power heads in the tank and I also blacked out the back of the tank. We let the tank run for 2 weeks then added 5 chromis 10 hermits and 3 big snails. We now have 2 clowns, a 6 line wrasse, purple dottyback(not for long too aggressive) a blennie (not sure what it's red and black looks like digital camo, super cool) a blue tang and a orange spotted goby. We also have a nice purple mushroom coral, a hammer coral, a yellow polyp coral, a brain coral and 2 other button polyp corals.

So far I did my first water change (10 gallons) and have just been topping evaporation off with distilled water. Tank stay about 79 degree's and so far so good all the fish eat good. I have had this tank for maybee 2months now. I will get some pics posted up. Does this sound about right? Looks like I might have some aiptasia growing on the mushroom rock. Should I just get some peppermint shrimp and hoe they eat it?

    Thanks everyone.

Yeah I guess that is why I posted this. After speding alot of time reading threads on here I was curious to see what others thought. Funny thing is I have zero issues with my tank or my fish. Even though it sounds like alot the tank still looks pretty empty. I buy all of my stuff from a local fish store. I have read all the stories about buying from petco and soforth, luckily I have a killer store local to me. I know that with this hobby your tank becomes better over time, it's just nice to get something decent started. I love sitting in front of the tank and watch the eco system work.

Sor far nothing has had any issues. I have had the 5 chromis 10hermits and 3 snails in the tank for 2mo. I usually added 3 fish at a time after the chromis looked like they would be fine. I would think I should be in the clear
