36G isn't really considered nano. I doubt too much light is your problem, however the extra rock may be. What type of rock was it? Was it cleaned? Need more info on the rocks.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
For some reason it will not let me view even if I log into FB.

Anytime you move rocks or disturb the sand bed you run the risk of stirring up a lot of detritus and other nasties hidden within the sand bed and under the rocks. It's very common to loose some filter capacity from the biological filter. You did well by rinsing and cleaning the rocks in SW.

Water changes will get your through hopefully without too much stress to the fish that Marine Ich sets in or ammonia poisoning.

Ok i did my 20% water change to hopefully drop my nitrites and just noticed my clown fish will not come out from behind the filter system.any thoughts or ideas. He had an anemone that he hosted that is probably dead do to a cycle that should not have happened but what can ya do.

Clowns are very interesting creatures. Is his behavior markedly different? Do you see any signs of possible infection? Is he eating? Is your ammonia level down?

Just did a 20 percent change on water. nitrates are really high according to test strips.don't have my master kit yet so that's all i can do everything else is starting to level out. I accidentally caused a mini cycle by putting in rock that had been out of the tank and not stopped properly. As far as eating seems to be doing fine. And not sure about his normal behavior as have only had the tank less than a week.

The good news is that clowns are pretty hardy so hopefully you should be ok.

    Questions:

    - Did you move the anemone into the tank? If it died it will be polluting the water.

    - What are you using for filtration?

    - What are you using for circulation?

    - Do you have much/any live rock in the tank?

    - Where did the rock that's in there now come from? What is it made of? Was it stored? Where/how?
