Hello names Gnatrol(natural) :) just starting to get interested in a marine system my twin brothers been doing marine tanks on and off for about 10 years or so give or take. He's selling me a 20 gallon tank for my first tank not a nano setup it has some kinda filter centrifuge thing on it so i can put more in it than just stuff you would find in a nano tank for instance i believe he has some Chalice in it and a lot of hard corals I've been told i should start with zoos and soft corals and mushrooms by someone i met via another forum board we are members to. A gardening board guy's been doing marine tanks for 30 years. So I'd hope his advice was sound. Any kinda feedback over this would be awesome my brother more less wants me to hop in with hard corals I'd think it more important to get down the mechanics of a marine aquarium's mechanics would be the most important?
As will any help or advice, will be read and welcomed. Thank you for having me and i can't wait to start using your boards in more depth.

    Welcome to 3 reef Gnatrol

with 2 brothers and that much experience between them, Im sure they will put you right from the get go

but starting with soft corals, is a smart move IMO - in general they are less demanding in terms of water quality, conditions and lighting and a great way to get the basics under your belt, before moving up to the generally more demanding hard corals (SPS)

Welcome to 3reef Gnatrol. It's definitely best to get to know the mechanic of a sw aquarium before jumping into hard corals IMO. Get your tank cycled and start with a hardy fish or 2. Here is a helpful link for beginners. Great info. The best advice I've ever had is be patient and GO SLOW through all processes. Best of luck!
