I've got an 06 silverado single can and I'm looking to buy a used dodge ram 4 door pickup. The only problem is my budget allows me to get trucks with about 100,000 miles or more on them. My truck has 60,000 on it so I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it would be ok to get a truck with tht many miles on it

Well of course. A maintained truck can last a long, long time. Just make sure it has been maintained.

Dodge rams are notorious for transmission problems...high mileage only makes this worse. Bring a mechanic with you.

Dodge is a verb meaning to stay away from... why on earth would you wanna trade a chevy for a dodge? stay with chevy, way better vehicle.

like said above dodge has a lot of tranny problems, i know cuz my parents durango has been replaced already.

I wanna trade because my truck is a single can and my wife and i will be having another baby. So my thinking was to trade my single cab outright for a quad cab. Because the way it sits right now is my truck barely hold my daughter and my wife and with another little one I need room. I can't afford another truck payment

Do you need a truck? What about a 4 door car? That's savings in gas too?

My suggestion as well. Maybe even look at an SUV if you want the "masculine factor". I purchased a used 4 door SUV with 60,000 for roughly $9,000.

Ok... For dodges, I would only go with a diesel with the heavier duty transmission.

As for higher mileage trucks. My last truck, Silverado 2500 6.0, I bought with 118K miles on it. I sold it at 198K miles about 8 months ago. Rear end was getting close to going out, but otherwise, was a very strong, good looking truck still. I would have no qualms about getting another high mileage truck.

    I would look for a 2005ish Chevy/GMC crew cab.

Are you needing this to tow anything, or just to haul stuff every once in a while. Makes a huge difference in the type of truck to look for.
