+1million for Toyota. I am biased though so I stay out of these discussions for the most part.

I do a lot of landscaping so I need it to tow rock and haul stuff. I like the look of dodges that's why I thought about going tht route.

If you are going to be hauling rock, then i would definitely do a diesel. I hauled a 14ft dump trailer topped off with rock with my 6.0, and it did great. The only downside was the gas mileage. A diesel would be able to do the work with twice the gas mileage. They are more expensive though.

I would steer clear of the 5.3 or whatever Dodges version is. The newer the truck, the more gutless they seem to be getting. I absolutely hate my new truck.... weak doesn't even come close to covering it.

I do know that the Dodge diesel is by far the best one out there... with the Chevy's close behind. Had a ford diesel work truck, and i was worthless.

i would not go with a Dodge over 100k miles. Not sure about anymore, but at one point in time they did not put fuel filters on dodges. 100k is about the magic number when things started to go bad with them...

Do you have one of the post urea/emissions trucks? (2008 and newer diesel) I hear they have terrible fuel consumption and have no power at all.

This is the only reason why I am getting the 6.0L gas truck now instead of a diesel.

I have a 2010 5.3 Eco model now. My last truck was a 2001 6.0. I cannot tell you how much I hate this POS truck. Put it this way, I bought it in November with 16K miles. I work 20 miles from work. I still only have 20K miles on the truck. I literally have parked the truck for two months and drove the older chevy work truck home.

I have no first hand experience with Chevy's newest diesel.

ok my 04 dodge is a dually diesel had a couple of minor problems but at 180k what truck doesnt. i get about 17 in town and 23 hwy miles. it has all the pulling/towing power you could ever want. if you go used and diesel DO NOT GET A FORD 6.0 very troublesome motors. ford 7.3 is a great diesel as well as the 5.9 cummins chevys are the way to go for new but typically they have always been a few steps behind in the diesel business. now gas motors deff would look into a chevy always a few steps ahead in that game. just depends what your looking for really. never had a dodge gas motor but have heard of horror stories about the trans. look for a HD there built totally different, i use to work in a transmission shop so i know a little about this stuff

I have a durango with 160k and no problems, no problems pulling a trailer and lots of interior room, the only neg is not having the bed. I also had a 99 ram with over 150k no motor problem, did have the tranny serviced when it felt like it was beginning to slip, but no problems after that and it was basically just a flush they did. I did need to replace the brake lines due to rusting but it was pretty easy. I love my dodges, they look great and drive great
