Today 05:28 AMSndwave80Try running the light over th tank without the glass and see if that helps/ makes a differance.

Today 08:34 AMMatt RogersDon't HQI bulbs require the glass for UV protection?

That's right, Matt. I wouldn't run the light w/o the glass. You could also damage the bulb if something comes in contact with it..

What types of PC lights were you using before??

Yea it just looks very dark the tank like it dosent have enought light I will try to post a pic in a bit. Just not like all the HQI I have seen before. No I dont have a skimmer I do 10-15% water changes every wed. I will take a look at that bulb and post the pic. I was using the stock power compacts that came with the nano cube DX

    Great please post a pic.
I think a skimmer would help with the clarity, not to mention quality.

i once read a thread about a guy that removed the uv glass from his hqi.he took 3 hours to set his rockwork up,the whole time looking down at the water surface which was reflecting those uv rays back up at his face.last i heard was about a weak later when his vision was comming back enough to type.he was seeing shapes but not detail.

My camera makes it look a lot brighter.

ok got my new Current 70W 14000K light and all I can say is WOW what a difference. The JBJ light is horrible. This light is so much brighter and casts a much better light into the tank. Just glad that is all it was.
