    IMHO

Fish have varying personalities and if the powder brown tang has decided it does not like the new introduction you are going to get a repeat performance when you release it again

you could try re arranging the rockwork, which could prevent the tang being so territorial for a while and allow the goby to acclimatise to the tank and thus find getaways should the tang remember it dislikes him

but as its segregated now, it may be a convenient opportunity to return it and accept that the resident fish, is not happy with the new guy in its neighbourhood

perhapsanother option would be to remove the Tang, let the Goby settle in, then rearrange rock work and intrdouce Tang back.

    Yep, that may also work
    if its territorial very possible
if its a personality issue - possibly not

had a similar issue with a hippo and an algae blenny - browsing rights fall out

the blenny hated the hippo and went looking for it all the time
I did the re aquascape - no change
I removed the blenny - put it back - no change

so the blenny was traded in for some rowaphos (they perform a similar function LOL)

After 24 hours in the divider and right when my lights were turning off I noticed the watchman was moving around and actually eating the food I put in for him. He looked like he wanted it out so I decided to try it. I dropped the floater tank to the bottom against the glass and made room for only him to get out. It went straight for a little cave in the rock to hide. Finally! He was still in the same spot this morning and there is a pile of sand outside the cave. Before he was staying in the glass corners at the top of the tank completely open to attack. I will let you know how he doing after the lights are all on. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I think I will get a pistol shrimp for him too that sounds cool. Anyone ever order one online?

pistol shrimp are really cool but a threat to any shrimp or small fish in your tank thell form a symbiotic relationship but will become pretty nasty sometimes

Things seem to have really settled down for the watchman, good thing to because my 5 year old Daughter was the one who had to have him at the store and she was freaking out. She actually said I can't watch this anymore. Now I am going around about the pistol shrimp I read other post and everyone that doesn't have one thinks they are bad and everyone that has one loves them. I here clicking at night in my tank but I have never found what is making the sound in a year. Can I have a pistol and not know it? I always assumed it was a manits.

Sucks that you have one of the meanest marine fishies in the trade as your 1st or one of your 1st fish. Brown Tangs are MEAN and should be the last one in your tank

Well the tang was my last fish.....until my 5 year daughter had to have that Yellow Watchman. I think she liked the name as much as anything.
