    the white stripe is on both sides. i read that it appears brighter when the fish are stressed or sleeping. this photo was taken about 5 mins after it was in the tank so i guess it was stressed a bit. it still has has the stripes but they are faded. is this ok?
    the fish seems very healthy. it ate as soon as i put it in the tank. it eats a lot. it is very very active. swims in and out of rock work constantly. very nice to watch.;D. pic is kinda bad b/c it was taken with camera phone.

    I hate yellow tangs been trying to catch the one I have. I will admit they are very smart fish.

    Always picking at my clams and I love clams more than tangs.

    oh, i thought they were reef safe though.
    i have a FOWLR anyway.

    yes its normal for the lateral line area to have a pronounced white stripe
    they can be like this when lights go out
    they can get this when stressed - such as 1st few days in new tank

    does it completely go away or just get very faded?

    I tends to dissapear during day time when fish is accustomed and happy in its enviroment
    but still comes back after lights out as part of its nocturnal colouration fade

    I have 3 yellow and a black and none go after my clams! never seen this ever. are you feeding them enough?
