picked up some zoas and a small crocea clam yesterday. first clam i have tried. looks good so far. i will be testing the water params every few days and adjust as needed. i am not running a heater in this tank and the temp stays around 74 during the day and drops to 72 at night. corals and clams dont seem to mind the temp, i am going to add a clown goby in a week or so, and 2 snails and hermits. right now the ca is at 490ppm and the alk is at 12dkh.

Very cool. The clam is looking great. I would love one for my pico.
Just curious, but why did you decide on no substrate?

ya i guess time will tell with the clam. from what i have read feeding it is more important that light, at least when they are small. it is 3.5 inches under the water and the light is an 18w pc. if the color starts to fade i may add another 18w fixture. i am going to add another HOB filter and make a fuge out of it. all of the corals and clams cost me $60. i got an insulin needle for the feeding.

I think a clown goby will fit (not that I know anything), maybe a Orange Lined Cardinalfish would be cool... Up to you though

ya i think i am going with a goby. either a green clown or a catalina goby. the later may be a better choice as they like lower water temps.

As shallow as the tank is and as close to the water line the clam is there should be a fighting chance. The addition of a 10KK only bulb would help the clam. The actinic side has minimal PAR. And PAR is what the clam needs.

the bulb that came with the kit is a 50/50 6700k/14000k. if the clam starts to change color or inflates i will add another fixture. i have heard that feeding it is more critical than light when small. am i wrong? thanks for the input.
