How essential are trace elements? I am going on month 3 in two weeks everything has been great so far and ever since i started feeding my sunpolyps once a day my skimmer is finally at work. I have a lobo frag, star polyp, leather, two small yumas, and last night i picked up a short tentacle plate (love it!!). How often do I need to add trace elements? I saw that it was sliming off when I put it in the tank is this normal? almost like it shot a snot out of it and it floated across the tank.. lol my fiance said "oh my God what the H*ll is that slime or snot thing"

Just looking for some advice on giving my corals a good environment and as close to natural.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It is normal for some corals to slime to some degree with introduction.

Routine water changes with a decent salt mix will replenish the trace elements.

Perhaps list current parameters such as calcium, magnesium and dkH so members can see where they fall and any intervention you may need to bring the numbers up to ideal values.

Thanks bro! I am guilty of not having a test kit for this. Just the basic kit testing ph, nitrate, nitrite etc. those params have been stable since the begining. Only the nitrates increased and have been reading 20 for the past 3 weeks.

+1 to above. Please buy the other test kits. Your nitrates need to be monitored and resolved before the elevate more and cause algae. Test your make up water before and after you add salt to make sure your cause is not there.
