Ok so in my 60 gal/30gal sump, i just put in a in sump skimmer. no clue what kind, i think they are made in south fl. I know there is a break in time and all, but my question is this,
the water is super bubbly like a white tornado, but it only goes up to about 2" below the cup. so my question is, is this ok? or does it maybe need a stronger pump?. FS guy said it would be just rite for my size setup, and said this is normal, but he also wanted to sell the skimmer. So is this normal, or does the water level need to be closer to the collection cup?

    thanks

This is what I'm looking at. Is this water level high enough.. I've adjusted the air and that's about the best i can get.. do i need a bigger pump?
Its about an inch below the (water level) line and another inch to the bottom of cup.. nothing i do will raise water level any higher, just adjust amount of bubbles created?

how new is your tank? if it's new then it may just be that you don't have a bio load for it yet, however it is weird that you can't overflow it on purpose. on all the skimmer's i've had (besides the air stone ones) i've been able to overflow it by either adjusting the pump flow or the air mix. i would still give it a couple days to see what happens, if you do have fish, maybe try feeding a little bit over for 2-3 days.

Can you get a better pic? I'm in NO WAY a skimmer expert, as I just got my first one awhile back and its a cheapy also. But there should be a valve on the output of the skimmer so you can restrict the flow coming out. The more you close this valve, the higher the water level will go in the body. As toua mentioned, you should be able to overflow the cup on purpose by adjusting this.

How high is your water level in the sump chamber ? This also plays a big roll in the skimmers water level.
Most manufactures say 8 to 10" of water for the skimmer to work proper.

Ok, feel like a dummy... My water level is right at 10". the guy at FS told me to do all adjustments with air valve. After reading( Insane ) I looked at the outlet, and there was no valve but it could be lowered or raised, so I raised it about a half inch and this brought up the water right to the recommended line! lol, o well know I know.

thanks for all the input and help!!

BTW my tank is bout 4 months old, and skimmer is still within break in period, so I'm not to worried about no skimmet yet, just was worried about water level, but all is well know!!
