well I was going to drill my tank today.
and I was wondering if 1 1" hole well be able to handle the water flow?
the over flow box is from bulk reef.
i have 2 1" bulk heads but im scared that the glass well crack between (1.5”) the 2 bulk heads.
So any help on drilling a tank well help

No difference between either sized hole as far as cracking , I'd install at least a 1' bulk head and the larger hole Just build a damn with plumbers putty add some mineral or vegetable cooking oil to keep bit cool and wet and drill it also back it up on the inside of the cut with some pressure and a folded rag . the backing will prevent a blow through the glass and also help to lessen the glass from chipping and will also relive pressure of the down force on the bit .

ya, my 125gal has 1, 1"in bulkhead and I use a Mag18 as a return pump, but I have to slightly hold it back with a ball valve.

Go slow with no pressure on the drill. I take a piece of plastic or thin wood and cut a hole the same size as the drill bit to use as a guide. I tape the guide to the tank to keep the drill bit from drifting until it gets started.

also you could always try to find a piece of "test glass" drill a few holes in it and get the idea before actually taking the plunge...

I would space the bulk heads further apart to avoid cracking the glass if I was doing it.
